Fisheye & Inon shopping in Asia?

  1. Hi,

I'm currently in the Philippines and want to buy a complete setup based on the G10, Fix housing & Inon strobe and wetlenses.

Where would you all suggest I should go to get my hands on all these bits? HK? Straight to Japan? Partly I want a good price, but also a good few days in a different country...

Currently I'm leaning towards HK; do you have any advice on which shop to go to?

    Many thanks,

    /Andy

  2. Are you planning to fly to HK?

Check http://www.divervision.com/catalog/index.php or http://www.fun-in.com.tw/catalog/index.php, two Taiwan based internet shops that tend to carry a lot of Inon and Fisheye products.

As for HK, I think Diving Adventure will have Inon's and (I think) Fisheye or at least can order for you.

Haven't compared prices lately with ordering direct from Japan due to the strength of the Yen lately but you can inquire with Kanda-san at http://www.uwdigitalcamera.com/

Other than no sales tax in HK, I vaguely remember prices being better from the Taiwan shops.

There are some or at least one Manila based dive shop that supposedly carries Inon. I'll have to ask my Filipino contacts for the name. edit: I think it was Diver's Point.

  3. In the end I decided to stay put here in Phils and ordered all the bits I needed from Joe at Fun-In in Taiwan. Joe was a fantastic help in deciding which bits to get and I almost felt sorry for taking up so much of his time with all the emails flying back and forth!

I would absolutely recommend doing business with Joe and thank him for all the effort he put in.

Now I just have to learn how to use all my new bits!
