Pelican 1510 or Storm 2500 case. Which is best?

  1. Hi all.

I need a carry on case for my gear, and have narrowed it down to these 2 (I think)

    http://www.jitpak.com/storm-case-2500---in...uggage-75-p.asp (STORM 2500 CASE)

    OR:

    http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/de...spx?sku=1011392 (PELICAN 1510 CASE)

These are readily available in the UK, unlike some of the others I have read about using search on here.

I need to know if I can fit my gear in, which is Ikelite D70 housing, 2 x SB-105's, 2 x Ultralight arms, 105mm port, 6" dome port, plus twin synch cable.

Any opinions? Will the gear fit? and also anyone got any experience with either of these cases? At the moment I think the Storm case is favourite, due to it's 1Kg lighter, and slightly bigger int. dimensions, but am open to taking advice.

  2. Hey partner,

I own both an older pelican and the Storm case your looking at. I much prefer the Storm latches. The double action is much safer and more secure in my opinion. Both will get the job done. I'm not sure you'll be able to fit everything in the case, it will be close. I put my S&S MDX 40D housing, two ports and two big YS250's in mine along with arms and misc. parts. I carry my big dome in my backpack along with the bodies and lenses. The 105's are quite a bit smaller, they may fit vertically or something. Should be fun to puzzle out.

The Storm is a great little case.

    Good luck,

    Steve

  3. I can't comment on the storm case, but I have the 1510 and a setup similar to yours. I've now managed to fit in an Ikelite D70 housing, 2xDS-125s, 8" dome, 105 flat, 8 arms (6" Ikelite & 5", 8", 12" ULCS), 8 ULCS clamps, ULCS tray and handles, single and dual sync cords.

So you should be able to fit your current gear, with room to grow.

  4. I have used a Pelican 1510, Lowepro roller 1 and now use a Kata OC 84 as a carry-on roller bag. The Pelican and Lowepro are about equal in capacity, but the Lowepro looks like an inconspicuous soft sided bag and is rugged like the Pelican. The Kata is not a hard plastic sided bag, but is rigid and has a lot more internal capacity since the removable wheeled/handle frame is on the outside of the case. It even has a computer pocket.

  5. I use the Pelican and have had no problems with it, it has more than enough room for all my camera gear and dive computer.
