Another Problem with my PD-170

Hi All;

Never rains but it pours. : (

I was looking closely at processed video tonight from my PD-170 and noticed an orange stripe down the left side of the frame. Light, but there. Looked at some other test tapes that I uploaded into FCP and even though I didn't see it before, I could see it now.

Hooked up the camera to a PVM-14M4U monitor, took the tape out, turned the camera on and hit the under scan switch. Sure enough, it was there. Slight band top to bottom, left on frame. Light orange on the left, fading to gray toward the inside.

I bought this camera new from BH Photo in December, 2008.

Ideas/suggestions?

Had a line like that on all 3 of my Panasonic cameras but never had it on my Sony VX2000 (very similar to your PD170) or my Z1P. It's presumably due to some internal misalignment. In years gone by it wouldn't have really mattered because of overscan but now it does matter because that's going to show up on the computer. As it's still under warranty I would get it looked at, either with B&H or Sony Service.

I switched jobs since we last spoke, I now work in Washington DC. Getting away from it all is becoming increasingly attractive.

I'm adding twin 15 W HID canister lights to my setup in the next few weeks. Looking for that subtle diffuse lighting on the close passes. The photos you sent to me of your old set-up really help.
