Sony HDR-XR520 and 500, any good?

Hiya everyone,

I'm thinking of upgrading from the Sony HDR-HC1 to either the Sony HDR-XR520 or XR500, so would like to hear what people think of these new models?

The HC1 is difficult to white balance at depth and from what I've read in previous posts, it sounds like these new models could help in this area. Please let me know what you think about this and other aspects of these models.

Well, the 520 will provide more hard drive space than the 500, but then you might want to compare the 520's footage to the new Canon S-10 which is a 25MBp cam. I saw an underwater footage comparison and the Canon blew the Sony out of the water. I've always been a Sony guy but hmmmmm
