  1. I am headed to Barbados this summer and wainted to know if anyone knows of any good Dive Operators there.

  2. Your hotel may well have an affiliation .. but the best have always been

    West Side Scuba

http://www.westsidescuba.com/ (website down but i love them)

    High Tide Watersports

    http://www.divehightide.com/

I think there is a place called Willys Watersports .. but can't be sure .. if so, they are good.

Make sure while you are there to tour the Mount Gay factory, Animal Flower caves, and Bathsheeba are awesome visits.

Restaurants that are must dos : The Tides, Ragamuffins

Have a night out down the St Lawrencce Gap lots of good eats and pubs down that way. And also .. Harbour Lights .. great night out of dancing .. $25 (used to be) gets you in for an awesome stage show and unlimited top shelf booze !!

Oh and the best beer in the world .. Banks beers is available there .. oh heck .. can i come !!!

One of the best islands I have ever been to, diving is spectacular .. make sure you do the wreck of the SS Stavronikita, it takes about 3 dives to do the whole thing fully. The reefs are awesome, sometimes a bit currenty but makes for awesome dives. A snorkel off the beach almost anywhere calm will also reveal a plethora of life you wouldn't expect!

PS you don't get many Texans there either ... but great choice of destination !

  3. Hi, can't advocate Barbados enough, very exciting island, take a trip to Georgetown in the yellow reggae buses, it's like a fairground ride...

If you like eating fresh caught fish and partying all night try Oistins down south.

I would recomend Hightide as a good dive shop.

On a serious note, the dives are often drift and the number of surface craft out there (jet-skis, speedboats, often being driven by complete novices and often after consuming much of the local rum) is frankly dangerous especially when you do put up a SMB only for them to use it as a marker for a jump or a turn.

Just a warning really, lots of people out there who have no idea that diving goes on in "their playground" and our safety devices.

Have fun and watch out for the Cockspur!

  4. Thanks for the advice guys.
