  1. just ordered a aquatica housing for my nikon d90 just wondering what your opinions on aquatica and there products were thanks!

  2. good choice aquatica is nice

  3. I used Aquatica for 20 years with a Nikon F3 and then an F4. Never had a leak, never had a problem they are great housings.

Not sure if they still have the screw vent for air travel but be sure you close it after flying. I forgot and dived in the Maldives with mine open, but not quite evidently, I was lucky not to get water in. In fact if you carry the housing in a backpack dont bother to open it at all.

  4. The pressure relief screw is no longer, instead we recommend (and I do strongly) to remove the port while travelling by air to prevent any built up of pressure inside the housing, side effect of forgetting do do so includes, the dome port popping out of its seal or one of the housing window or eyepiece of the housing might also be forced out of its O-ring, that BTW is not only valid for Aquatica, but to all housing system. The reason for removing it is , well ask... see ardy01 post, folks would forget to screw it back in, now, ususaly you do not forget to attach a port before diving so that kina solved the issue by itself :)

  5. I too just ordered an aquatica housing. Got it from Backscatter. Thanks Jean for answering all my question at OurWorldUnderWater in chicago. I greatly appreciated all of your time.

This was a tough decision for me. i live in Indianapolis, where we have Ikelite. i like to support my home town as much as possible, but finally went towards the Aquatica Housing since I'm a tech diver and would probably dive deeper than the rating on my housing.

Jean, if your listening, 2 options that I would have liked to have seen on the Aquatica Housing is: 1) Two Fiber-optic cable sockets

(as a tech diver I always look for failure points, I like this better than the Nikonos Bulkhead option); 2) I like the Sea and Sea lanyard brackets on the handle. Would like to see this as an add on option. Should be an easy add on option if there is no patent issues. These 2 are on my wish list.

  6. Thank's, i'm listening and I apreciate the input.

  7. I have the Nikon D90 and have been interested in the Aquatica housing, but I'm unsure about the TTL capability. I know that you can get Nikonos TTL connections, but does that automatically work with the iTTL technology of Nikon? Could I add Z240's, for example, and get TTL functionality, or do I need yet another converter?

  8. I'm on my fourth Aquatica housing (2 for Film N90s, 1 for D2x and 1 for D700) and they keep getting better. I'm very pleased.

A TTL bulkhead is just a connector that allows a TTL converter to be attached to the housing, then your strobe(s) are connected to the converter,

I would never buy an Aquatica...****

****partly because I liked my first one and bought a second one and now have two of them and got no way to carry a third :) (Well actually working on figuring out which my next Aquatica will be anyway...) Really like the housings and layout of controls. Very easy to handle underwater for me and really like having a metal/aluminum housing.

Does Aquatica make one, or recommend one that will work with the D90 and housing? Ikelite makes one, I guess, but it works only with their strobes. how about others?

  12. No we do not manufacture one and actually believe that we souldn't have to use one, in a perfect world it should be a built in module in the strobe and be a plug and play affair like it was with 35mm, but hey I don't make strobes I just use them :)

The Sea & Sea and Heinrich Weikamp are the two only other I know of, I know that the Sea & Sea will work with the INON as well and that the Heinrich Weikamp external has a lot of strobe in many variant of setup working, they have a website listing them.

  13. I'm on my third one. So far, so good. I'll soon purchase a D300 back so I can shoot with a new D300 and I won't have to buy a whole new housing.

Getting emails answered is still hit and miss so I just post here and Jean answers or I email Mauricio Handler.

I purchased my latest system from him and he's great about responding to questions.
