Blueish image on C5050

4 posts
  1. Hi!

I'm just wondering when using the Oly C5050 to shoot wide angle, with an external strobe, will the image be very blue-ish? I used to sony P5, and it always gives me this problem, even when the strobe is fired. Unless i use a red filter, then the image is correct.

so i'm wondering, whether the oly need such filter? or can i just adjust the white balance manually to some other settings?

    thanks for the help!

  2. You must use enough strobe power and be close enough to the subject to avoid that problem. It is likely with your Sony that you had problems with one or both those things. In any event, the 5050 can be used for wide angle very successfully. If you use external strobes you should not also be using a filter.

  3. I would experiment with different WBs. Don't use auto, or if you can shoot raw then try different WBs in your raw converter.

  4. My Oly 3040 works best in auto and gives very blue results with WB set to sunny.

My Oly 5050 works best with auto or with WB set to sunny, even at 60 feet.

So if you have the luxury of taking some blue pics, experiment. Otherwise, stay with auto.
