Sea & Sea dome port question

Hello everyone,

I hope to soon acquire a Sea & Sea housing for my D-300 and I'm wondering about the best port to use with the two following lenses: Nikon 10.5mm FE and Tokina 12-24mm. I notice in their port chart that the NX Fisheye Dome port is compatible with both of these lenses (I'm assuming the Tokina 12-24 should be fine since it's pretty much the same size as the Nikon 12-24). The chart also mentions that there are fewer aberrations with this port vs. the compact dome port.

Has anyone used these two lenses with this dome port? If so, are the corners of your images when using the 12-24 sharp? If not, is there a quick fix like using a diopter? Is there an advantage to using a different port for these lenses instead? I'd like to only have one dome port, for ease of travel.

i use the d200 with tokina 12-24mm and nikon 10.5mm

the 12-24mm goes behind a compact dome with the 40mm extension ring, the 10.5 works just with the compact dome.

the image quality of the tokina in this combination blows me away, the 10.5mm well, i dont shoot with it that much, but when i do, never had an issue with the quality. i just love the tokina too much, i also use the 10-17mm from tokina using the compact and 25mm extension, again, i'm more than happy.

I'm using the Nikkor 10,5mm DX Fisheye and the Nikkor 12-24mm behind the NX Fisheye Domeport since 2006.

And I'm very happy with the quality of the photographs I shot with both lenses.

There's no need to buy the Compact Domeport.

And the NX Fisheye Domeport is better for splitting images (half above & half under water).

The material (Acryl) is for me no problem. Professional usage since 1998: I had no scratches in the Domeport which are visible on the photographs and I'm a "heavy user".

It seems that the new Nikkor 10-24mm lens will work under the same "technical conditions" like the Nikkor 12-24mm (same zoom gear, I tryed it; same Domeport).

And that's another important advantage for me...

I would recommend the NX Dome or Optical Dome for the 10.5 FE. I had replaced my NX Compact with the Optical when I got the 10.5 FE. Great port!

I also think that the NX Compact Dome Port (if you are on a budget) or the (amazing) Optical Dome Port are better suited for the close-focus capabilities of the 10.5mm even if at the expense of some more suitability on half-halfs.
