How do you configure your custom settings and why?

  1. I set up the G9s two custom settings like this:

In C1 I zoom to remove the vignetting caused by shooting with two UCL lenses and the long port. This allows me to quickly flick from and back to C1 and obtain the minimum 'wide angle' setting without having to use the camera's zoom control.

In C2 I set on minimum zoom (for use with the short port, UWL-100 and dome unit), slow syncro and IS (shoot only). I use this setting for shooting very slow sutter speeds with aperture priority. I can adjust the shutter speed with the EV control (+/- 2)

Interested to hear about your settings and why.

  2. Tim, I use similar settings. C1 for Wideangle - prezoomed a little bit, manual mode, 1/60 sec and 2,8 Av. C2 for macro - no zoom, manual mode, 1/20 sec. and 5,6 Av

    Cheers

    Karel

  3. C1 - Macro ... zoomed for the UCLs, f/8 @ 1/1000th

    C2 - Wide ... zoomed for the UWL, f/5.6 @ 1/125th

ALWAYS on ISO 80 and always on macro focus setting.

With those settings, nearly all of my exposure adjustment came from tweaking strobe power ... took a bit of trial and error, but once I settled on these I was very happy.

If I wanted "blue water" macro, I would go to C2. C1 gave me pretty black water.

EDIT ... some images added for examples:

C1 -- actually shot at 1/2500th to get REALLY black water ... but close enough ...
