Looking for recommendations & suggestions about Philippine diving. I've been diving Indonesia the past few years, but thought I'd check out a new area. Just a few questions -
1 - Is Apr/May a good time? Probably a 4 wk trip
Yes, been there 4 weeks in 2008 and 2 weeks in 2009 at this period. Nothing to complain.
2 - Best areas for muck diving?
Anilao, Puerto Galera, Dumaguete, Moalboal.. probably more. If you're going there for muck diving, you have to dive in anilao and in secret bay in particular.
3 - Company that has dive centers in different areas? Would like to book thru one company that can arrange diving, accommodations, transfers in 3-4 areas (just seems easier that way)
There are probably others but Seaquest Dive Centers, http://www.seaquestdivecenter.net/ in Moalboal(Cebu) and Bohol..scheduled to open another one in Malapascua in sept/oct.
4 - Can I expect to see any species not in Indonesia?
Uh well, Indonesia and Philippines are probably the richest biodiversity, so before seeing all the critters and get bored I think there is a long way to go. i've been diving my fair share of lembeh and i've seen critters in Philippines I have never seen before...but it's the case anywhere generally. Marine life is such that as long as it is abundant you always find something new and something you've seen before in a different situation and with a different behavior.
