Other than the slightly different working distance, price, and ability to AF on cheaper Nikons, how do these two lenses compare for UW photography? I realize only the AF-S is IF, but how much does that matter? Thanks.

Nikon 60mm AF-D vs. AF-S

Good question! Having read Ken Rockwell's review I came to the conclusion I'd stick with my old 60mm and not upgrade. I'd be interested too in what Wetpixelites think.

Don't be too fixated on Nikon. Tamron has a NEW SP 60 mm F2 macro lens with some very compelling specs.

The Tamron lens isn't even out yet, so who knows how good it is. In any case, I don't want to limit myself to a DX lens, so interested in the two Nikons. I, too, read KR's review. Mostly interested in hearing from those who have used both UW.
From shots I've seen topside, the newer lens certainly looks better at distance. For macro shots above water, they both have nice IQ.
