Canon 40D AF drive

  1. Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the best AF drive option is for marco shots? I've started shooting with an EF-S 60mm + 1.4X+Canon + EF 12 ext tube and was able to get some decent results, but I could not decide which mode is best?

One shot, AI Focus, AI servo?

AI servo does not allow locking on the target, so it's just a guess if shot is in focus or not.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  2. For macro like that, I like One-Shot and use the * button to activate auto-focus. Once I have the autofocus near where I like it I let go of the * button and move the housing in and out for fine tuning.

    Cheers

    James

That's what I mostly used on my last 8 dives, however, the only part of the shot that is in focus is in the center; around it, it is out of focus, which in the case below it caused the blenny's mouth to look blurry. (the eye is in focus but the mouth is blurry)
