Nikon Rumors picking up again

13 posts
  1. Once again rumors, leaks etc are surfacing on Thom Hogan's site and nikon rumors for Nikon releases in the next 2-3 months.

From my perspective what's hopeful here is that D300 and D700 owners may be able to keep their present housings if the D300s (some nice speed and video upgrades) and the D700x (video and 24MP upgrade) materialize.

  2. Its interesting how Thom suddenly changed his predictions yesterday based on new information that the D700x will be a summer camera, rather than a winter one.

I wonder if the D300s (or whatever it is called) will stay at 12MP or jump to 15?

  3. you mean to tell me if i actually buy a camera and housing then the next one might actually fit?!?!?!?!?!?!

hmmmm, so maybe i will buy a camera and housing then

  4. I think it will stay at 12mp. Seems that it would be a D90 in a D300. Which would be horrible

Yeah, right. We all believe you on that one. :D

  6. I read that yesterday too Jeff. That would be awesome if the D700x is the same body but w/ the D3x sensor. I'm sure there are a lot of people with their fingers crossed.

    Cheers

    James

Seriously! i no longer have a working camera, 8 months in Lembeh and 4 dives with a camera... :D

  8. Some of you might remember how I reported swapping a Hasselblad V outfit with two bodies etc and a complete set of lenses for a Nikon 10mm DX lens (since traded in). Well, http://www.dpreview.com/news/0907/09070301...elbladcfv39.asp It's 39mp.

However the pics I take with an obsolete D200 seem just as good as those I take with a D700. As you say in your country...Go figure!

I might as well spend as much as I can on a D700x, otherwise I just send it to Nancy Pelosi in Washington! :D

  10. And more rumors here:

    http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/07/ent...roadmap-leaked/

I think D3000, D300s, and D700x have a great chance in being real (not sure on the D300s H264 video codec...).

But I wouldn't bet a lot of money on the D4, D400, D4x release dates and specifications...

    Best regards,

  11. Thanks loftus for reminding me I may not be able to afford diving soon. As with most upgrades,we have to decide between what we really need, and what we want. That is always the hard part. Do we really need what we want for our specific use.

  12. I for one would be *very* happy if the 300S would fit the same housing as my 300. I thought long and hard about getting a D90 for underwater video, but the lack of autofocus in video mode is absolutely a deal-killer on that one. How sweet would it be to take some nice shots with my 10-17mm of that Manta Ray and then follow him with my HD video mode :D

  13. I bought a D700 and have seen very little advantage using it over the two D200 I habitually use for the sort of diving I do (clear water with strobes) but yesterday I took some some pictures of my kids doing a dance performance at school at ISO5000 and the results are stunningly devoid of grain.
