Pool Model Shots First Go

9 posts
  1. I was recently inspired to try and shoot some pool fashion shots after seeing posts by Cal, James and others.

This was my first time setting up a pool shoot and it was a lot of fun. It was nice having a subject that didn't try and sting me, bite me or swim away.

Here are a few of my favorites.

  2. Nice clean images. I like the lighting in #3. #2 does not work for me, with the distorted arms and hands cut off. #1

  3. Thanks Loftus

I think #3 is the best from the shoot.

  4. Funny #2 is by far my favourite .. it's different it's interesting .. it feels more alive to me.

#1 is a great sht .. seems very 'normal' in fitting with other pool shots we see here.

    #3 awesome dramatic lighting ..

great first job .. did you find it a bit easier than you expected after maybe having read what everyone else has been through?

I would love to have a go .. but it seems like more work and equipment than i have.

  5. Thanks Glles,

Yes it definitely helped reading the other posts and checking out the other images.

I just used underwater equipment 2 strobes on camera and a slave strobe. So no real extra gear. I had a black sheet for some of the shots.

I know I saw a great thread awhile ago about using topside strobes with fashion shots. But I haven't been able to find it when doing a search.

Not really sure what kind of lighting look that would give but I'd like to give it a try.

    Hey Todd,

Here is a thread where I describe setting up my pool studio. I've continued to develop the concept further, and I'll update the thread sometime.
