Good value housing for half/half photos in calm conditions?

  1. Hi,

I'm hoping that someone here can offer me some advice.

I'd like to buy a housing for a 5D Mk II that'll let me take over/under images in calm conditions. I've spent a fair amount of time researching the subject, and I now appreciate that I'll best be served with a large dome port and a wide angle lens (I'll be using a Sigma 15mm fisheye).

However, the waterproofing options that I've seen are either for diving (hence the expense related to the need for waterproofing at depth) or harsh conditions such as surf photography (hence the expense related to building tank-like housings).

Is there anyone producing less expensive housings (with large dome ports) for more modest half/half photography ?

If I end up going for a surf housing, can anyone point me to some comparisons ? People love SPL, but since I'm based in Europe I'm very interested by the Liquid Eye housings. Unfortunately I can't find much about them on the web, and the site leaves much to be desired.

Thanks for any advice that you can offer,

    Tim

  2. I am not familiar with surf camera housings, so I can't attest to those. However, you probably can't go wrong with Ikelite. They are the least expensive housing capable of scuba usage.

    Regards,

    Dan
