Single strobe? Harsh shadows?

  1. Before I could afford to buy a second flash gun I used to use a dive slate covered in crinkled Aluminium foil. I used this to help reflect light into the heavy shadows cast by a single flash gun.

I have seen a photographer mount his reflector on a "Bendy arm" (Loc-line) for easier positioning.

You could possibly laminate the foil these days.

It's worth a try and they are cheap to run!

  2. A piece of white plastic does the trick too, but harsh is adjustable with flash positioning and adds 3D.
