Had an interesting dive on the Deep Shale in Monterey the other day. It's really hard to concentrate on shooting macro when you've got 30 meter vis (which is nearly unheard of for the spot we were diving in). Still, I eventually was eventually able to get focussed and managed to get a single good shot from the dive. It's a small basket star sitting on a red gorgonian. Funny that I saw and photographed this at the beginning of the dive but didn't come close to get it right. After coming across it again on the way back to the upline I tried again and was quite happy with the result.

Thanks! The bottom at this spot is around 35 meters. We dropped through a thin surface layer and could see the metridums on the bottom. We were actually concerned for a second that we must be at the wrong site and that we'd anchored much to shallow!
