Fish ID/Creature ID books

  1. I'm heading to Lembeh and Raja Ampat this fall, and I am planning to get the Reef Fish Id book for the Tropical Pacific: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/187...=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB

Is there also a book that covers reef creatures such as shrimp, crabs, etc. for that region? Any recommendations for such a book?

  2. You'll need SEVERAL books, I'm afraid! I used "Cephalopods - A world Guide" by Mark Norman, "Crustacea - Guide of the World" by Helmut Debelious, a brand-new book by Dave Behrens & company called "Nudibranchs of the Indo-Pacific" that was wonderful and another one that I can't recall the name of to id the almost 3,000 photos I took when we were at Lembeh Resort in May! I think between all four books that I managed to id 95+% of the creatures. Good luck!

  3. Natalie, I brought " A Diver's Guide to Underwater Malaysia Macrolife" by Andrea & Antonella Ferrari with me to Lembeh and was so glad I did (even though it's pretty heavy). Altho it didn't have every critter, it had plenty, and much better photos/descriptions than anyone's else's book.
