The focus mode button on my housing is jammed; I can only turn it by force with a plier. I have been trying to open it but can't figure how. Can someone give me a head up? Thx.

Hi,
I am not sure which button you are atlking but, buttons are simple to open.
Just remove E-clip from back side of button & you can push shaft back. Spray
of WD40 should help you too.
Turning it with plier is NOT good idea as it will damage the seal and back window
& will may cause a leak in the future.

Don't use WD-40 it becomes gummy with salt water. Use silicone spray or sea & sea silicone grease.

WD-40 isn't really great for o-rings either. Since you have to disassemble to clean & service, might as well install a new o-ring. Order a complete rebuild kit from S&S. As Jack said, just use a good quality silicone grease. Spray tends to get everywhere, but may be required to help remove the shaft. Clean it all up before reassembly using grease. S&S just puts there name on those little tubes, so save some $$ & get a tube of Dow-Corning or 3M grease. It will last you forever. Remember the old film canasters? They make good grease containers for a smaller quantity.

He is trying to open something Jammed (only turn by plier?) & need a penetration oil to release it
and also, have some lubrication not to damage the hole in the housing. He will/has to clean it prior
to reassemble it & apply thin coat of S&S grease.

The problem is I cannot find the e- or c- clip. Someone with a MDX-D300 please tell where is the clip is hidden on this button? No, I was not trying to open it by turning with a plier. I was trying to say that it got so jammed up that I can only turn it with force with a plier. Thank you.

Sea & Sea mostly uses e clips, but on some controls they are using a pin through the control shaft that keeps it from pulling out of the housing. Check for that pin in the control on the inside of the housing. There is a notch in the control sleeve on the inside of the housing and the pin rests in the notch when the control is not depressed. Depress the control to see the pin.

Thank you, surfsukpcorp. I found the pin on the push button but my affected button is a turning button and still can figure out how to remove it.

Resolved. The bolt is underneath the label (M, C, S focus mode). Remove the label and unscrew to remove knob.

Could you get the knob removed without any damage
