UNDERWATER HOUSING FOR 5D MARK II

  1. I own a 5D with an Ikelite Housing and 8in Dome Port. I purchasing a 5D Mark II does anyone know if the housing is compatible. I am sure their are minor differences but does anyone know how much? Thanks.

  2. I have a 5D II and it's a fantastic camera. You'll love it.

There are quite a few differences and I know for a fact it's not a "plug and play" swap. It is possible to convert the housing by making some major changes, but the conversions are mainly done for the higher-end housings where more initial investment makes the conversion more attractive.

    Cheers

  3. There is another post here on WP on the subject and someone else has done it by extending some buttons and putting two more in. Can't find it right now, but think it is in DYI section. The good thing about the ikelite conversion is that e.g. for the bigger LCD one just has to move the padded spacers on inside of the back of the housing and not worry about having to put in a bigger polycarbonate window in an alumium housing...

Good luck, if you are handy with precision tools I remember reading from the post that it can def be done.
