Canon HF-S10 in Aditech Mangrove MVHDC-S

  1. For those who may be interested, I've posted a long review of the aditech housing for the S10/S100. Unfortunately it's in french but at least you have the pictures which might be self-explanatory ! :) . Anyway if you have questions about this brand, just ask. I am considering putting U/W frame grab in a near future and I should be able to test the WP80 lens (which is according to the manufacturer for this camera/housing combination vignetting and distortion free). The review is here: http://www.e-ocean.fr/index.php?option=com...87&Itemid=1

  2. Any chance of an interpretation into English?

Yes. Possibly in this century although that may be a good opportunity to learn French :) . I am still testing it. Just started to play with WP80 lens and apparently no vignetting and distortion (at least on the housing monitor). I'll try to do a summary once I am done !

  4. Well, I think it more practical to learn Chinese or Spanish before French. :) I'd suggest Google translator but I'm sure it'd be hacked up by it. I'd do it if it were a full review of a new housing, but I'd already tested the mangrove before. I see Aditech has changed the latches. That was one of the things I liked about the housing, although it also meant you had to use another piece of equipment to open the housing.

The WP80 I tested couldn't full zoom. Is that still the case?

    - For the latches, I've seen your review and the housing is now easy to open/close without any additional tool.

    - About vignetting it seems like I have a corner slightly dark but this only appears when moving which means it can be corrected by deactivating the image stabilizer. The image on the monitor is the full frame image (not the TV one) so this is only a minor issue.

    - WP80 in air appears to be a little less than full zoom but I didn't have a chance to have a full look at it (probably tonight and underwater). There is also the 1.7x mode which I'd like to play with.

  6. What is the largest battery that you can use with this housing?

  7. I have the intermediate one. I guess you can use the largest one as lot of space is still available.

Have you used the surge stabilizer wings? Are they any good?

Also which lights are you using?

I am thinking of ordering a whole package with the WP80 option for a HF S11 that i have yet to purchase too.

  9. I have my own version of the stabilizer wings. Not sure about what to think about them in the surgy areas where I dive. The lights are two homemade canister lights with 2x 35W HID ballasts and 2x 12V 10Ah Nimh battery packs.

I will dive in the mediterranean sea next week with the housing (blue and almost particle free waters) so I should be able to give more impressions about the video as the "optical conditions" will be better
