Canon G7 & G9 - Same housing ??

Hi,

I've tried searching everywhere for this and with no luck to apologies if this has been asked before...

I currently have a Canon powershot G9 with the Canon housing (WP-DC21) and have just bought a G7 also.

Looking at pictures all I can see in terms of differences between the Canon housing for the G9 and for the G7 is that the "play" button is at a very slightly different angle.

Is there a reason why I couldn't (safely!) get away with using the G7 in the housing for the G9?

Just trying to save a few pennies using the G7 as a back up if possible...

If it fits, go for it. But from memory, the G9 wasn't a great fit in the G7 housings available. Maybe it'lkl work the other way around though???

I can report that the G7 fits perfectly into the Canon housing for the G9!!
