Macro lens Choice

  1. Please can I have some advise over the merits between the 60mm macro lens and the 105 macro lens for a Nikon D70. I can see that the 105mm is more expensive, but the specifications don't help much.

Any advise on the advantages and types of photos would be a help. As well as views on the different makes of lenses.

    Thanks

If you do a search on wetpixel, you will find a wealth of discussion on this subject. In general, the 60 is easier to learn on and you can do some semi-portraits of fish or turtle heads. For 1:1, the minimum focus leaves little room for strobe placement. The 105 close focus is around 11 inches, but is sometimes too long a lens (small angle of view) for slightly larger subjects.

  3. HI,

I would start with the 60mm micro lens as it is more useable than the 105mm also the port will be smaller in length

& easer to handle underwater, it is a great lens & you will learn quickly with good results.
