  1. I have pictures from the Perhentians online on my blog if you are interested.

I was diving with Coral Sky Divers which I can recommend. Yves and Erika have been extremely nice and helpful with me, so was the staff. The cakes were good too :)

I was amazed by the videos of Jez Tryner from (Atmospheres Imaging, he is able to come back from a dive with a complete video that does not even need editing. Quite impressive I would say. He knows exactly what to shoot, when and for how long in order to do a complete video for customers. The background music was awesome too (Karma - Delerium)

Diving price is CHEAP :) (40RM - US$11 / dive for a 10 dive package) and I'm now wondering if I will not be back there instead of going to Indonesia where it is much much more expensive.

The dives were excellent and I would definitely not waste my time on the East coast of Thailand next time during this season, but rather go there again.

Pictures have not been altered in any way (no cropping, levels, etc...) so you may see bad framing, bad levels and backsckatter. The quality is JPG 80% as I want to save bandwith but might switch back later to 90% as some artefacts are way too visible in some of them.

All of it was taken using a C4000Z in a PT-010 with internal flash only. It was working erratically (shutdown during dive) due to a flooding 2 weeks ago in Thailand, corrosion starts to do its work.

    Cheers,

    Stephane

  2. Hi Stephane

You've got great photos, especially since it was taken with the built-in flash! I never seem to get good results with built-in flash on my Canon S50. Too much backscatter.

That's why all my shots use only natural light. I may get an Ikelite or Sea & Sea strobe eventually.

  3. Hi Stephane,

been reading your blog, glad you enjoyed Perhentians diving with such spots as Tokong laut (temple of the sea) or Tiger rock that deserve more respect than many Thailand dive spots.

I understand indonesia/Bali is your next destination, am I right?

Personnally, this is the closest dive destination to Phils' quality, might even be better on some spots : there's plenty of interesting diving in Bali, very cheap if you bargain with more remote dive centers as in Candi Dasa for instance (you may even fall below the 10usd price tag). Do not miss of course the Liberty wreck and Amed walls but also excellent diving in front of Candi Dasa, Gili Tepekong (aka "the toilet") and Gili Mimpang.

    Happy dives.

  4. Enjoyed the read. Take care - Hope we see you soon

Ah, glad you can tell me that I will not have to cut on my diving and that I may find cheap/good diving in the area, I was starting to think that it was impossible to find something less than $20. If I manage to get my hands on a DS50 setup I would really like to spend the rest of the month underwater to play with it

    Cheers,

  10. Stephane, It was great reading your blog on Perhentian! I almost fell off my chair... they have INTERNET in the Perhentian now!?! Wow! When I was there last (in 95 I think, holy cow, that's 10 years, how did that happen) there wasn't even electricity where I stayed, let a lone internet. I was in fact stuck with a food poisoned boyfriend (hubby now, I ended up marrying him) for 10 days without a way to get off island. Boy, the world turns! But I remember the snorkling was good...
