Seems like they added more controls but they removed the possibility to mount the WP80 w angle port.
Bye
Except having a Raynox lens, there is no option for wide angle. I guess that's why the price for this "HD" housing is apparently lower than the other "HD" housing from Ikelite.

That is what I thought too. So I would give this one a thumbs down.
So lets wait and see what Gates reveals.

I really don't understand these marketing choices ![]()
They already have a housing. Why don't they improve the existing one. It's seems to me that actually they added just some knobs and nothing more so they could have modified the old one without re engineering nothing. They could improve a product leaving the price unchanged and... customers happy!
What I'm missing?
WP-80 is incompatible optically with the HF S10 camera... You can physically attach it to the housing, but you won't like the results.
New lenses are being designed for this camera by Fathom, and hopefully Ikelite will support them when available.

I don't have any trouble using that lens with my Aditech housing. No distortion at all and a nearly unoticeable vignetting in a corner.

Have you posted your footage somewhere? It will be good to check it out, I am thinking of going the Aditech way myself, esp after hearing of so many issues with the L&M.

I've added another crappy video on Youtube :
We have had nothing but positive feedback with our HF S10 / HF S100 housing. It includes a 58mm wide angle lens which works great. I will get a video posted for everyone to look at.

Just couple questions--- Am I corect that there is no option for viewing what you are recording with Equinox unless you spend $400 more for a lcd mount to the back plate?
I see you have lenses available that go "on the camera" but only in wide angle. So the dome in front is just glass? Will any lense that fits in the case "as in a macro" work without distortion?
With Equinox can you adjust for white balance? Any menu options?

There seems to be an update regarding the ikelite housing (#6090).
from their website, specifically http://ikelite.com/web_two/can_hf10.html:
Hi-Definition Wide-Angle Port Option:The #6480 Ikelite WP-80 Wide Angle Port is designed by world-renowned Fathom Imaging
I have read conflicting reports in the forum here about compatibility of this port with the hf s10/100/11; the fathom imaging website is useless. any more
info on this?
regarding macro for this camera, i read in this post: http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showt...mp;hl=canon+1.7
2. Either use zoom, or screw in filter or use the canons nifty built in 1.7x tele convertor function as psuedo macro. Camera will focus down to 1cm.
I don't yet have the camera, so I have not tried this 'nifty 1.7x tele convertor function' - will it work with the port mentioned above?
Anybody have further impressions of this camera/housing combo?
cheers

You're looking at the wrong housing. The one you mentioned is for HF-100 not for HF-S100 (or S10,S11) which is on this page ( http://www.ikelite.com/web_two/can_hfs10.html ). The housing for the HF-S10,S100,S11 does not accommodate the current fathom lenses or M67 wide angles such as the inon ones. Ikelite says it : "The camera's extremely large lens element prevents the effective use of external wide angle conversion lenses. "

I have an aditech housing with WP80 on it and the HF-S10. The 1.7x tele convertor works nicely.
