Nikonos strobes with a DSLR

7 posts
  1. I'm trying to put together a DSLR setup, but the missus has laid down some rules regarding budget (boo).

I've seen quite a lot of nikonos sb 105 strobes for sale quite cheap. Does anybody know what housings they can be synched with without losing the ttl? I'll probabaly be looking at using something along the lines of an eos 20D or a nikon D70.

    All tips welcomed

    Mike

Only thing I can think of is Fuji S2Pro which I believe it was still using film TTL.

  3. Hi Mike,

The Nikonus strobes will work with ALL Digital SLR setups with no issues if you can come to terms with no TTL.

Many folks go down this path for one reason or another.

    Best check out TTL anon

    Good luck on your journey.

  4. The Fuji S2Pro WILL give you ttl but only up to and including 400ISO - not beyond. Otherwise they need to be used in manual - I use them as 'travel strobes' - which really isn't a big deal. Be aware that their sync cord leads are now quite old and can give trouble - replacements are available from Ikelite but do not seem to like rough treatment, so alternatives can be made up from Ikelite connectors and heavier cable by some repairers (I use www.aquaphot.com who do a good job).

  5. you can use a SB105 with all DSLR but in manual, some of my friend use it with D80/90, D200.

me i use it with a G9 in slave

  6. Thanks guys - looks like manual it is....

  7. Absolutely no problem on manual - I use them with Aquatica and formerley a Canon 5D now a 5D2. They are a good piece of kit and very powerful for theit physical size.
