Looking for a reasonable dive operation in Yap. Saw one online that started at over $500/night. Want to go there primarily to shoot mandarins. Any suggestions?

I dove with Beyond The Reef back in 2005 and was very satisfied with the personal care, quality dive guides, and uncrowded boats. I heard, though, that they may be closed now.

The main dive shop on Yap is Yap Divers at the Manta Ray Bay Hotel. You can check it out by reading the list of dive ops shown on the Yap Visitors Bureau web site: http://www.visityap.com/diveop.html.

*Sadly Dave Vecella of Beyond the Reef passed away earlier this year in a diving accident. The majority of his guides now work for Mata Ray, George specifically.
