I have a Dx2g and 110a strobe. This is a TTL strobe if not mistaken. Shouldn't the flash deliver the right amount of flash not to wash out the subject?
Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,
I have the DX-1G with the 110a strobe and unforutnately the TTL doesn't work the way you may expect it to.
The problem is, that the camera sends out a pre-flash before really flashes and the strobe follows that pre-flash giving you a darker picture than you may want. It should be the same thing with the 2G.
I have started a shooting in manuel 1 mode and it works fine so far. No shot missed out.
You have to think about how you want a shot, but once you have figured it out it isn't really that hard at all.
Lots of luck!
Paula
I also use the 1G but with the older 110 version flash.
I had some sucess used TTL mode with the A,P and T modes on camera. You then set the flash in "TTL" and you can fine tune with the flash power setting. The flash will trigger both at pre-flash and main-flash, so that the camera meters on the assisted-pre-flash. (some reservations for that it was a while ago I did this)
However I agree with Paula, nowadays I use exclusively M mode on the camera, and the flash in "Manual 1" (no pre-flash suppression), and then adjust flash exposure with the power setting and aperture.
I wish I had the 2G though for processing speed....

I take it your experience is that it overexposes the shot. Two things you can do is to set the flash to manual and then pull down the flash amount in-camera to eg 1/8 or 1/16 of full output or simply use the flash EV compensation (which you can assign to one of the functions of the back "wheel").
Paula, I haven't experienced the problem you're referring to, DX-2G with 110a seems to work fine.
