Did anyone test the new Canon 100 macro "L series" underwater yet ??? How does it compare to the standard Canon 100 macro lens ???
I am considering to buy a 100/105mm macro lens for my Canon 450D and I wonder if it will be worth to spend almost double for this lans compared to the standard Canon 100 or Sigma 105 ....
Thank you very much for your input and comments !!!

I'm pretty sure the lens is not out on the market yet. I've yet to see any over-water tests with it. The 7D should be out in stores in the end of September, and I'm guesing at least a few weeks before we see the lens out in the wild.

for the 450 i seriously doubt that the new 100M will be justified, particularly for underwater use -- unless it focuses faster. the IQ of the present 100M is comparable to just about any of Canon's L primes
I've been field-testing this lens above water over the last week and pretty impressed with what the hybrid IS can do. I believe the idea is that the IS compensate for not only pitch and yaw movements, but also shifts, which are more usual in macro photography. So if you want the ability to shoot at slower shutterspeeds- e.g. when you stop down aperture and are shooting with natural light, it could be a good lens to have.
