Need some help on where to go

  1. My situations is that the boss wants me to set up a trip for 4 of us. He will expense the whole trip. He suggested Indonesia but I would rather South Pacific or Carribean. three of us are divers, the fourth will get certified prior to the trip. Accomadations must be excellent. If we stay on shore, I would expect that he would charter the whole boat (he doesn't like crowds). Other option would be to just charter a large boat w/ compressor. Ease of diving is what I am looking for. Have been to Bonaire but don't think the accomodations are good enough for him. Any thoughts as to where to dive as well as resorts or boats?

    Thanks

  2. There are loads of option but you don't tell us a whole lot, moreover you may have to consider the season. When do you plan to do it ?

Obviouslly you would prefer some luxury liveaboard in order to get the best diving, best accommodation and best crowd. You can check Peter Hugues liveaboards.

btw, is your boss hiring ?

    Cheers,

  3. Looking to travel in Jan or Feb. I don't have much info. I'm normally limited by money which makes most of my dive trips easy to plan. I am guessing that 15k for a week excluding airfare is possible. Problem with live-aboards is the crowd and I don't think he would charter a boat with that many cabins not to mention the size of the cabins. I had been looking at chartering a private yacht but don't know much about that. Those prices run into the mid 20k's and that may be pushing his generosity.

Sorry for all the vague info but as I said, I have not planned a trip like this before.

  4. You can try the Ocean Hunter in Palau.

It’s a liveaboard ship with maximum 6 passengers, 2 friends of mine dive with them and where very satisfied.

About the dives in Palau I'll be happy to write after December.

  5. Mark - I can highly recommend Fiji. My wife/dive buddy and I went there in the spring of 2002, and we're returning there late this year. I posted a story about our first trip at www.mindspring.com/~jimbo_limited/Fiji_Paradise_2.doc. I'm not sure about the weather in January-February.

In the Caribbean, we have been to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman ten times. They are both super nice places with no crowds whatsoever and very laid back, and the diving is absolutely superb. If you haven't dived Bloody Bay wall on Little Cayman, you haven't dived! On Cayman Brac, we stay at the Divi Tiara; on Little Cayman, we stay at the Southern Cross Club. The only question mark is that in the winter, the weather can occasionally be iffy, with cold fronts stirring up the water and making it a bit choppy.

How about walindi in papua new guinea? The accomodations are very comfortable and the diving is pretty easy,

    and quite good.
