New Inon LED Light

  1. Hi All

    long time no post ,

i was searching for a small LED light to attach to my BC shoulder strap for night dives to allow me to see camera and strobe settings

it may also be a good light for a model to hold while im taking shots of them .

i came across this light which looks promising , being and INON i would expect excellent build quality and performance.

looks like it uses 3 AA batts , 5W led , screw on of switch , double o ring , Aluminum

i was wonedring if anyone has used one of them yet ?

    Comments?

  2. The LE250 is an awesome torch. The build quality is amazing and the battery seems to last forever. (two dives easily).

It has quite a narrow beam, but comes with a 40 degree diffuser which creates a nice beam for night dives.

The torch is also very compact, making it easy to store and handle.

    Highly recommended.

Here is a video of the torch during a night dive with the 40 degree filter (i wasn't holding the torch btw):

  3. Looks like an interesting light. Cost/availability?

Currently, however, I'm rather intrigued by the new Intova Compact Torch. 3x AAA batteries (I'd prefer AA, but oh well), 100%-30%-strobe modes, very small and compact, very bright, and only $38 at B&H.

i did a google conversion on the price of ¥12,800(i think) which ends up about $140 usd or $160 aud,

may be a bit of overkill for a light to check my strobe settings, but when i was looking at other lights they are 1/2 the price but only produce 1/8 the light of the little inon , and if i know inon gear it would be a light that would last for years

i emailed Yuzo at uwdigitalcamera.com for a price and availability but he hasn't got back to me yet.

very impressive video of lionfish hunting , the output looks stunning .

The Intova 4.7w looks very nice also , its just the postage to Australia is a killer , buying through B&H photo is like $50 Aud postage for a $38 usd torch , Go Figure

    thanks

You just need a "friend" in the states. Or a shop with more reasonable int'l shipping rates. Or perhaps Intova can share with you a dealer list in Oz to avoid the issue. The first person I know of who had one of these new Intova's lives in NZ, and purchased at his LDS for $120NZD, if that helps any.

  6. Hi,

I bought it in July and used it for macro photography in east and north Bali for about 25 dives. I always used it with the 40 degree diffuser - a 50 degree diffuser can be bought optionally. The beam is very bright and even with the diffuser. Due to its compact size it's never in the way when you are looking for the fishes. ;) The on/off switch is working properly - no leaks so far. The battery compartment is protected by double o-rings. If you need more power you can add a second, third or fourth LE250 to your focus light setup. I really like this light. A few things I was missing: a red diffuser and an easier /more secure way to change filters/diffusers under water. These tiny things get easily lost. Why didn't they include the 50 degree diffuser right from start?

This is where I bought it: Onderwaterhuis.nl

You can also get it here: Diversion.com
