am looking to go to PI in Nov for a week - I've been to PG (action divers) a few years ago and loved the wrecks and critters there - it had night life as well - Now am looking to go to Anilao for the muck/macro - is it a cool place for my Mrs.? as she not into diving/snorkeling etc and would prefer to shop/ spa etc whilst I UW -- so should we go to PG again or is there "stuff" for Lucy to do ?
I've been to Anilao twice, and I didn't see any signs of any shops, spas or restaurants nearby. but I didn't look really hard either.
I have been to Anilao 10 or 11 times. Anilao does not have any night life, or any place to go shopping outside of the fish market at the Anilao Pier. Some "resorts" offer basic spa services, but most just have a local masseuse available. I tell anyone wanting to go to Anilao with me, that there is nothing else to do there except for diving. And some places don't even have internet access. Most places don't even have a nice beach, as most are rather rocky, and rather pebbly.
I have never been to PG.
I would suggest you take your wife anywhere else than Anilao if she needs any non-diving activities or shopping.... as there really are not any.
Good luck in finding you dive trip.
Hi all

Well, others have said it: it is not a resort, but great macro shooting. The northern island of Luzon (that's where Anilao is) has huge flooding with another deluge on the way. You better check it out>

cool thanks guys ripper - off to PG again - now can anyone give us a resort/dive center that is photo friendly - last time we basically dived by ourselves - no guide - this time would prefer a guide to spot
My strategy would be to leave her at the Mandara Spa in Boracay for 4-5 days and go to Anilao alone. Then meet her there for last leg of your holiday. Worked for me before many times . As the others have said, Anilao is spartan and I wouldn't even bring my gf to PG either. For non-divers who want a spa resort, there's no such thing around the better dive areas around Mindoro and Luzon. There's a couple I've been to on Alona Beach in Bohol area but otherwise, it's unhappy non-diver. If you want macro/critters with decent entertainment for the non-diver, I'd have to say Bali is the better place. I just spent 3 days searching for critters while the lady went for spa/yoga at the resort 800m from the beach where I dive. I had lunch with her then back in the water before we had sunset yoga. It wasn't the Mandara but she was happier than being stuck in a dingy motel in Gilimanuk eating the famous ayam betutu.
PI Bohol/Balicasag areas are also great diving but more WA wall and reef fishy more than muck/critters.
I love to shop as well, and believe me, there is nothing to buy in PG! Only things to do are dive and drink.
I agree with Drew -- go to Bali. I don't think the diving is as great as PG, but it has everything else you could possibly want.
we just come back from Bali - in Sept -that's the problem - any other suggestions on a muck/macro location ?
