  1. Our guide found this little critter at seraya while flipping rocks looking for boxer crabs. I've never seen such colourations/patterns on a frogfish before anybody has any ideas? It's about 3-5 cm long.

  2. Looks like a Bandfin frogfish: Antennatus tuberosus

    Cheers,

    Marli

  3. Thanks sure looks like it after checking the fish books. :)

Range is supposed to be E. Africa to Hawaii & French Polynesia. Looks like a new geographic area for this little critter. :(

  4. Last time I looked, Indonesia fell between East Africa and Hawaii.

Sorry, it's the school teacher in me.

    Great find, regardless!

    Cheers,

    Marli

  5. Marli, the philosophy student in me questions that statement. Doesn't that depend on which direction you consider the between from? East Africa to Hawaii via the Atlantic misses Indo. :( It's all about perspective.

  6. My mother would say, Smart Alec! :( Touche.

  7. As a school teacher, isn't there always a smart alec in the class :(
