I would really appreciate recommendations for a strobe to work well with the G10 housing. I'm a marginal, infrequent user and just booked my next dive trip in 2 weeks. I need it to be as easy as possible. Please recommend a sensible solution since I don't have a lot of time for research and it's a little overwhelming!

Strobe recommendations for G10 Housing??

Which G10 housing you use ???? If you are using the Canon model I would suggest an Inon strobe, either the Z240 (which can be operated either electrically or with fiber optics), or the D-2000 or the S-2000 (which can only be operated via fiber optics) .... The Z-240 shoul cost around $ 700, while the D-2000 and S-2000 should be in the $ 450/500 range.
Hope this helps .... Francesco
P.S. .... I not connected in anyway with Inon, just a happy Inon user .... I use a Z-240 and a D-2000 with my Canon 450D and Hugyfot housing, connected via fiber-optics

If you have no wide angle lens on the housing then you will be fine with an ikelite af35 strobe. It comes with everything you need except the batteries (4x AA) and it is in the $350 range. If you want a little more power you can move up to the Ikelite DS51 strobe package for around $500.
If you have a wide angle lens you should consider a strobe with a wider angle of light such as the Ikelite DS160 strobe package for $1000. It is a big step up in price, but it is necessary if you want to use strobe for wide angle shots. Otherwise, I recommend sticking with a smaller strobe for macro and fish photos and then use available light for your wide angle shots.

The Inon certainly works well. Another great strobe that works wonders with the G10, regardless of housing, is the Sea & Sea YS-110a. The strobe offers manual and S-TTL features with both the Canon and Fisheye housings. Its manual only when paired with an Ikelite housing.

Thanks everyone. I have the Canon housing. Sorry to miss that "minor" detail in my post. You've given me a few great choices to select from. I appreciate being able to reach out to those of you with more experience and knowledge. Thank you again for your responses. Wish me luck!
