Trip Insurance?

11 posts
  1. I'm headed on an expensive ($7k) trip and was highly recommended to buy travel insurance. I checked with DAN and the coverage would be approx. $500 which seems like a lot of clams to me!

    Who do use and why?

    Thanks!

AMEX has great TI  If you have an AMEX card.

  3. Thanks Sideways!

I do have the AMEX, but I didn't pay for the trip with it...used cash. Do they sell separate policies?

  4. My wife has been buying trip insurance for all of our trips from Travelex, and raves about the rate and terms, compared to other places we've tried. Worth checking out. Never had to make a claim with them, so I can't vouch for that aspect.

(No connection, just a satisfied user... thus far)

  5. Thanks CompuDude...Travelex saved me $200 compared to AMEX and DAN ! That should cover my beer money

If you use cash and an airline or business goes under, getting your cash back is not always easy and likely not to happen at all. If you use a credit card, you can usually get your money back...nearly always with an airline failure.

    FWIW.

  7. I've always used DAN insurance and I did have to make a claim one time, they paid promptly and without any hassles.

I've used csatravelprotection.com. Very competitive rates.

Thanks Bob...That's $100 cheaper than Travelex which was $365. DAN and AMEX were $550. I'll have to keep that on file for my next trip.

Thanks to all for their responses!

For what's it's worth, my mother-in-law is a long time insurance agent and despises CSA... apparently they have a long history of not paying out insurance claims, she says. Travelex is a respected nationwide, well known company and the company behind CSA (US Fire Ins) is not terrible, but not as good.

Go to www.insuremytrip.com to see a side-by-side comparison of a lot of plans and options to know what you're getting.

Good luck, whichever route you take!

Thanks again! I checked them out with Travelinsurancereview.com and Travelex had the highest A+ rating along with the highest customer satisfaction. I used them this trip and will use for future trips.
