  3. Stunning shots there! Nearly looks like a swimming pool with the vis and how still it looks. I love the lighting!

    Awesome!

  4. Hey great work there, pretty cool.

Did you run the clips through a wobble filter to get them smooth like that?

  5. Ouch Wags, some people can just swim steadily and don't have nervous fits, ya know? LOL

There's a bit of shakey in a few shots so it all can't be steady filtered. Plus they used a very nice track from Ruyskopp.

Still there were a few abrupt cuts to follow the music which I thought unnecessary. At 1.56, the jump cut was a bit abrupt from a long shot to a medium shot. The scene at 2.26 could've been left out for a longer sequence on the following scene which had much better lighting and subject. Great job with the lighting though and that last shot was very nice.

  7. Why is this letterboxed in a 4:3 frame? Vimeo supports 16:9...

Well that´s why I post here. This is one of the few places were you actually get some constructive feedback. Thanks to everyone that responded.

(I would have replied earlier if I didn´t have to actually manually subscribe to replies in a thread I created).

The shipwreck was filmed over a period of three days for a total of 5 dives. We used our first dive to sightsee the wreck, everyone brought scooters enabling us to dive the entire wreck (it´s 100 meters long) in one dive. This provided us with valuable information for planning subsequent film dives and we spent quite some time on-shore planning the variuos shots we wanted to attempt.

It took a total of six divers to get these shots and our greatest challenge was to choreograph the divers carrying the 200 watt HMI lights in relation to the camera (particulary the shots where you see light in front of the camera).

In total we performed 4 dives filming on the wreck. Bottom time for each dive ranged from 30-45 minutes which provided us with almost 2 hours of footage shot with Sony PMW-EX1 in a Gates housing with the Super Wide SWP44C w/a port.

I´ve used FCP to edit and I´ve only applied the Smoothcam filter to some of the closeup shots. The w/a shots are stable because we have the housing mounted on a scooter.

    lights used

5 200w HMI videolamps and 2 50w HID lights (with diffusors) mounted on the housing.

    Lens used

Well it´s the built in lense that´s on the EX1. As far as I know it´s not interchangeable.

    editing software

Edited in FCP. XDCAM 1080p @ 25 to Apple Prores 720p. Then color corrected and graded in Apple Color and the off to Vimeo @ 720p @ 25 MP4.

    Settings on camera

Pretty much everything set to auto. except white balance (which was set for each dive).

    Filter or no filter

    No filters.
