Has anyone dived the coast west of Tulamben?

  1. Has anyone dived up the coast west of Tulamben? Is there any good reefs or muck sites in the that direction between Tulamben and Singaraja?

  2. There are a few resorts along the way with a smattering of muck sites. Just north of Tulamben is Kubu which is usually very decent, then there's Allamanda Resort with a couple of sites. There is a newish spot near Air Sanih... one of those "dive centers" which can appear overnight but have no real setup jobs. In my very limited experience in that area, it's been ok for a bit of wideRangle coral bommies but nothing to write home about. Still only a few data points it's hard to judge an area. For me, if there isn't something specific to shoot, I'd rather be at the spa in Bedugul (the new ubud) :) There's a protuding wreck along that road that I've always wanted to check out but never had time.

Many thanks Drew. I might have to do some exploring to see what else is along that part of the coast. Where abouts along that road is the wreck?

  4. Well, I don't remember exactly. I don't GPS Bali :) But you can't really miss it. It's visible from the main road. Choose your lunar and tide phases wisely. Too many people make the mistake of choosing the "wrong" time to go and get mediocre results. Oh and keep your findings to yourself... the last thing you want is to give out an insider dive site :)
