Ever seen one of these before?

Hi All,

Has anyone seen one of these before? I saw it on a dive in Ponta Da Oura in Mozambique recently. Nobody I was diving with knew what it could be.

Thanks in advance!

It's a piece of a starfish. The leg will regrow the other four.

[To be politically correct, the leg of a seastar.]

Thanks jlyle,

I gotta admit i've never seen a "seastar" like that before, but you seem to know a lot more than I do, so I'll take your word for it.

Thanks for the quick info!

It looks like a nailed armed sea star (Mithrodia clavigera), see them occassionally off Southern Queensland.

Regards

Nigel
