Editing AVCHD in realtime at full res

  1. For all you guys with AVCHD cameras, as you know editing the raws files in real-time is very hard.

    1. Convert to another codec for ease of editing = takes a long time.

    2. Proxy Edit the files.

    3. Edit in realtime but suffer from a low res preview window.

Well looks like realtime editing of AVCHD files is coming to EDIUS, yes thats right, edit the raw clips at full res without any quality drop in your preview window when editing.

With a fast computer you will be able to edit many tracks in real-time plus mix them with other video formats.

You can go to http://desktop.grassvalley.com log in and then download EDIUS Neo2 Booster demo and have a play for 30 days... or you can wait till it comes out for EDIUS PRO.

Be good if it can edit raw Canon 5D, 7D clips too, have yet to try it.

  2. That's pretty cool,

Do you at present convert to Canopus HQ and edit in that? How long does the conversion take for both H264 and also AVCHD?

    Jon

  3. Don't know why FCP didn't incorporate that in their latest edition. Certainly most were expecting it.
