Recommendations for Yap, Palau and Guam

3 posts
  1. My wife and I are going to Yap (3 days), Palau (6 days), and Guam (3 days) in October. We're staying at the Manta in Yap, Palau Pacific in Palau, and the Marriott in Guam. Any recommendations on dives or things to do?

    Thanks

  2. I stayed at the Marriott on Guam a few months ago. I was not impressed with their rooms, but nice pool. After staying at PPR, you'll be disappointed. Maybe the Outrigger would be a nicer place.

While on Guam, I invariably go to Kmart and buy stuff like Woolite, Simple Green, Macaroni and Cheese...but that is because I live in Japan.

If you don't have a rental car, the only shop catering to tourists is Guam Tropical Dive Station. If you book with them, please let them know that I sent you. They have a complete dive package 2 boat dives, tanks, weights, equipment, etc. for $85 or so with pickup at your hotel.

Otherwise, the cheapest place is Micronesia Divers Association, but you will have to go to the shop, pick up the tanks, weights, etc. and then go down to the dock, load your own gear, etc.

Let me know how it goes.

  3. I lived on the Island of Guam for six and a half years and did alot of diving

there. There is a wreck in Apra harbour but the vis was not so good when

I left, but it may be better now. They have a blue hole dive thats okay. Some

of the better diving is on the back side but unless you know someone and

if the ocean conditions are good its hard to get to. Anyways the place to

do the best diving is Palau, once you dive there the rest is a disapointment.
