Hi and welcome to WetPixel!
Nice to see Your first shot's allready posted here!
I really like the second shot but first and last pictures seem to me two dimensional.
Overall I think You have done a good job for first attempt with You'r camera.

Hope to see more soon!

Karel, Thanks......
Can wait to go diving again, my next trip still another 5 months from now

Your fire urchin shrimp is Periclimenes colemani, the Eggshell shrimp is Periclimenes brevicarpalis. The Orangutan crab is usually called Achaeus japonicus, but it is thought by many experts that it is not in that Genus at all.

Thanks Marli...species name added to my photo tag.

A very good start for your first go! Are you using the 100mm macro on the 500D?
I was in Bali recently too. I wish my hairy squat lobster looked as well exposed as yours!

Stephen, I don't have 100 mm macro.
I was using EF-S 60 mm macro on my 500D for all macro shots.

Amazingly well done for your first attempts with the DSLR. Congratulations! I really like the second image. Nicely done. You might want to take a look at some additional processing on the last one, it looks just a tad over exposed on my screen. When an image looks flat like this you could try a vignette effect to bring up the subject.
Before and after
Have fun partner, Can we see some more?

Love the Crystal Shrimp photo!

Hi Steve thanks, it does look more prominent with after post process in remind me to Michael Aw's squatting lobster photo in his book. Are you using PS for this effect?
I tried to take some pictures of nudis as well but it seems I need more magnification to fill in the frame, may be in the future I will get 100 mm macro.

I think those are a really good effort for your first attempt with an SLR. Look forward to seeing more as you progress. Thanks for sharing and well done.
