Ikelite Manual Controller with Dual Strobes

2 posts
  1. I would like to add a second strobe but not sure how to do so. I'm currently using a manual controller (Ikelite EV) with a DS51. Can I use a dual sync cord or do I have to add a second manual controller. Thanks for the help

  2. To my understanding, each manual controller will only trigger one strobe, as the connection to the strobe is the 'fixed' pigtail connection. So you can't mount a dual-sync cord between controller and strobe(s).

The controllers do also have a wired connection (by default, covered with a waterproof plug). This would be used if you wanted to feed the controller with a sync signal instead of using its optical slaving, and then use the controller to dial down the intensity. But even in that mode, you'd have a dual-sync cord going from your camera's hotshoe to two manual controllers, each of which would control one strobe.

Another option would be to get another strobe that has built-in optical syncing, like an Inon. But if you want another Ikelite strobe, then I believe you need another manual controller.
