Advice needed on underwater setup

4 posts
  1. Hi people your advice is needed! I have a very basic underwater housing and compact camera which i have been using the past 3 years. Im studying photography at university and now want to upgrade my underwater equipment. Cost is an issue as i don't have huge amounts of money but i do want a fairly professional setup. My study has mainly been on marine life but i'm taking it to the next level and want to develop my underwater fashion imagery. any advise of equipment? where can i buy it? i currently have a Cannon 400D what housing are best?

    Thank you all

    Josh

  2. Hi Josh, Best is not the word to use when you also say cost is an issue. :D

Ikelite is usually the cheapest set up, may I suggest searching these classifieds and also try eBay worldwide, and maybe Bsoup classifieds?

    Good luck!

a good setup would be an ikelite housing for the 400d and some ds 125 strobes (or if cost is really an issue some ds 51 strobes). I use the ds 51's and there 'ok' for fashion but definantly not ideal. The recharge rate is appalling but if you take your time with shots they get the job done.

    What lens do you have?

swing past www.calmerophotography.com for some fashion/model shots

    Hi!

Are strobes the lights that you can use underwater??? Do you need strobes to get decent shots?
