Lightroom and Keywords

  1. Getting a bit frustrated...

I would like to create a "set" of keywords, basically one for Indonesia where it has about 20 words inside that set that i can add to each image.

What i would like is to be able to highlight all the photos i want to add it to and then simply click on that one word and it will add the 20 words to all of the highlighted photos. This is very easy and straightforward in Bridge but i can't seem to find how to do it in LR...

    Anyone know?

    Cheers

  2. Make sure you are in library grid mode and have selected the photos you want keyword together. At this point either select an existing keyword or enter a keyword in the space provided.

This approach can also be used to add titles and captions to a bunch of shots. I have been doing a lot of the latter over the holidays. I scope through a bunch of pix and use color to group those pix getting the same title or caption. I then use the colors to filter and select the pix for group inputting.

  3. aha.. finally found it.

In the Metadata tab at the top, Sync Metadata... that way it copies all words over at the same time instead of having to select them one by one...

Cheers Tom.. sounds like you and i have the same exciting holiday period, keywording photos :)

  4. Good to know you are having such a leisurely holiday season, Mike :) Merry Christmas! And to you too, Tom

You can do it too (sync metadata - not have a merry Christmas) by selecting all the pics in the grid view, as Tom says, and then using Select All (CTRL-A) to highlight all the images and then clicking the keywords you want to use.

The problem with Sync Metadata is that if one entry has data which is only relevant to the one image, it will be copied to all.

(And I can't believe I'm writing this during the Christmas holidays! We need to get a life, guys.....)
