Help the newbie to start please

Dear all, please forgive the simpleton's posting. I honestly tried to figure the issue on my own but the sad truth is that I have to bother you even to start..

I have a compact Lumix DMC-LX3 and a no-brand housing. The housing has a six-pin contact: 3 male and 3 female each, with sort of a step in between those 2 groups.

Obviously, I need something relatively inexpensive, although if and when I progress to a TTL I would like to be able to utilize what I buy now for my compact.
