  1. I need to check what has gone wrong inside the strobe, so if anybody know the procedure on how to open up the strobe, please let me know.

If its an sensitive issue, feel free to PM me.

Remove the rubber ring around the front of the strobe. There are 6 small screws holding the front (tubes) of the strobe to the rear electronics portion. Be very very careful to make sure that the capacitors are fully discharged before mucking around there is a potentially lethal charge sitting there. Probably best to send it to Inon or your dealer though

  3. Hallo Bill, thanks for the tips so far. Can you please help me some more, I would love to be able to send it to Inon for repairs, but due to location it will work out more expensive than new strobe. There are 5 screws to remove the front rubber, are these the screws you refer to? Once I have removed the screws and the rubber are there anything more to remove as the front perspex cover seems to be securely fixed to the strobe body. So how to i seperate the front cover from the body?

You also need to remove the other threaded bits over the exposure control. I will try to take some pics of my disassembly, but I didnt take it far enough to get inside all the way, I was only interested in getting some electrical probes to confirm charging current.

  5. There are no user replaceable spare parts for Inon. They replace the entire internal strobe assembly as a whole. Which is why I've always said Inons are the plastic throwaway strobes.

I almost feel like putting down legal disclaimers when people ask for advice like this. But I'll just add this:

WARNING: if you have had batteries and turned on the strobe, realize that the capacitors still hold a charge and can shock you if you touch the wrong thing. Wait at least a few hours before opening up the strobe.

Hence my warning. I have a very healthy respect for what a fully charged capacitor can do. Shot across a room once in our lab.

    Hi Bill,

I got to the point of removing the perspex cover. I was not able to take out the electronic part. I assume the dial at the back is holding the electronic module. Do you know how do take this apart?

Curious, does this mean that the "spotting light" would not be replacable? I have had one out for quite awhile and have thought of trying to replace it.

    Thanks
