Which is most Photo Contest Worthy???

  1. So get to enter one, maybe two, of the below photos in a small contest. Feel free to rank. Can never judge my own stuff so.......

  2. Depends on the contest - who ever knows what the judges will like? IMHO, I'd go with the Mantas first then the Wobby.

    My 2 cents...

    Phil

  3. Contest is for a resort

  4. mantas and wobbie for me as well. Batfish shot is a little static and "boring"

Anemone fish, is a pretty standard shot that most folks have, doesn't jump off the page.

The mantas and the wobbie are a lot more interesting with some action and better main subjects

Thats how i would judge them..

  5. Mike's nuts..... I like the batfish... Composition is just perfect.

Just kidding --- ;) , Mike's got a lot more experience then me, so...., but i do like the batfish. Like Mike, the other pics i have all seen elsewhere, including the wobby. For me the batfish is unique.

    Good luck!

    Mike

  6. and thats why we always end up having fights in the judging room ;)

  7. THe wobby is my favourite.

  8. I'd go for the Wobbie; I like the contrast between large and small. The manta shot looks very noisy to my eye.

    Good luck,

    Marli

  9. All the input is welcome and shows how subjective it is. I always like the wobbie but just wish there was more of an eye/pupil for perspective. But it is what I have to choose from.

  10. I'm with Marli. Manta shot is just too noisy for me. I like that there are two subjects in the Wobbie shot. My eyes are first drawn to the school of fish, then to the Wobbie, then back and forth. I think one quality of a good photo is that it causes the eye to move around the photo.

  11. Going to do a quick chime in here:

I like the batfish, not as much as the wobbie, but I like the batfish.

Shiney (vibrant is probably a better term) colours make the batfish shot. The Wobbe is just superb with the awesome "negative space" - the schooling fish.

I agree with Marli and Canuck - I dismissed the Manta shot as too noisy.

And I dismissed the anemone shot as plain.

Great shots though! I would hope we see a winner!

  12. Mantas - theres not enough punch in it yet.

Increase the highlights a fair bit.

    Drop the shadows as well.

    OR

open the original - reconvert it to BW and drop the blue/aqua tones to darken the background but increase red, orange and yellow + increase highlights.

    Cheers

    Cal

  13. I like the wobby image

  14. Again thank you for all the input. Will try playing with the manta shot, really do need to get better with PS3.

  15. I like the woby to. I think it stands out from the other photos.
