OK I could not wait any longer even though the weather is crap I just had to take the camera and housing that the missus and I have just bought.
The kit is second hand Nikon D50 with Ikelite housing and strobes.
Some nice people had smashed a hole in the ice before my buddy and I got there. We were expecting some pretty good viz but the water was cloudy, Viz being about 1.5m.
For obvious safety reasons we did not stray far from the hole, there was not much to photograph but I fired of a few shots of the ice and my strobe etc.
It was a tepid 3 degrees centigrade under the ice.
We lasted 25 mins, I was quite surprised.
I found out a few things about the rig I am using, (mainly to read the manual)!!
Any of you guys been out under the ice recently?
