Similan OR Puerto Galera?

I have 4-5 days to kill in mid-Feb to get out of Bangkok. Looking at two options.

4 day liveaboard in the Similans

OR

4 days diving from Puerto Galera, Philippines

What does everyone think? I have only been diving in the Philippines once and that was many years ago for one day in the far south!

Similans if you want more Chance of mantas but less macro than Philippines, your choice!!

wow, very different places - There's better macro at PG.

You'll have great vis in Thailand, and chance of whale shark or manta at Richelieu rock, but your Similans liveaboard will probably only go there for 1 day of diving on a 5-day liveaboard, and zero days on a 3-day liveaboard, check with the specific boat.

I've just come back from a 4day/5night liveaboard (www.panunee.com) in the Sims. Diving was great but like Scott says, only 1day at Richelieu - which surprisingly and luckily nearly devoid of other divers

Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu were all very good with Mantas at the former two. No whalesharks...

Never been to PG but Anilao on the mainland is also very good.
