PentaMIRROR for Bluefin FX1

  1. I'm interested by the PentaMIRROR for the L&M Bluefin FX1 from Xit 404.

I've become used to looking down into the top of my housing to view the LCD but would still prefer to the more conventional position behind the housing that this double mirror prism would allow.

Is this worth a go? Any experiences?

  2. Couldn't you try to 'Blue Peter' yourself a cheaper version ... :)

    Nick -

I purchased the XIT404 pentamirror from Backscatter a number of months back, and while I've yet to dive with it (August is my next trip), I can say it's well made and does a decent job providing a more traditional monitor view, although it's still not the same as having a quality external monitor. I've found it nearly impossible to use the LCD on the Bluefin, especially in clear tropical waters, and the pentamirror is a good, modestly priced solution. It's best for framing wide angle shots, and at a minimum it solves for the lack of a sun shade. Installation was easy and the instructions straight forward. The mirror is also adjustable, so you can angle it to suit your needs. My one complaint is the mirror vertically crops the LCD image just slightly, but not to the degree that it's an issue.

As there are few options available for the Bluefin, I'd recommend the mirror.

    Best of luck,

    Dan
